Home + Comfort
“We still carry within us, in a small warm spot, the idea of home. Home as a safe place, a loving place and a creative place. A place of comfort and privacy. A place where we can explore our inner life.” Ilse Crawford
Why is there no place like home? Why is home where the heart is? If you think about Maslow’s hierarchy of needs (physiological needs, safety and security, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization), the idea of HOME is a physical manifestation of the two most basic needs on the pyramid, setting the stage for love and belonging to blossom. Home is where you get picked up for a first date, where you bring a significant other to meet the family, a place to hang out with friends, where you start a family, where you host family, where you can go when you need a break from the outside world.
Home is one of the few places we are in control of our surroundings. We can choose colors that are soothing or energizing, textures that are sleek, luxurious, or cozy, we can dim the lights, light a candle and relax, or kick off our shoes, crank up the music and dance!
If walking into your home at the end of the day doesn’t feel like a deep, cleansing breath, let’s make some changes!
